Looking forward to future work adventures in Australia after 20 years in London.
I have over two decades of experience in design, systems and strategy across different sectors.
I began my career in branding, magazines and design systems, moving from Australia in 2005 to continue my career in London.
I feel fortunate to have been a part of this period of exciting change and I have enjoyed developing new ways of working for ever-evolving challenges. Over time my work has moved to become leadership, advisory and strategically focused.
Some of my experience includes:
Magazines and print (Grazia France, IKEA Family Live, Elle Collections, Arena Homme+ 32-34, Twin, D&AD Annual, Barbican Centre)
Setting up initial high-profile digital design systems (BBC GEL, GOV.UK Design System, Swiss national broadcaster SRF)
Launch and design of digital products and services (BBC Global iPlayer, Nike Training Club, Swisscom iO, Concentric Digital Consent, Barclaycard).
I have worked with world-leading organisations (AKQA, Moving Brands, Public Digital, Neville Brody, Government Digital Services) and had the chance to work with some amazing people, both clients and peers alike!
Since 2014 I have worked as an independent consultant working with direct clients to set up digital service, policy and organisational change work (Government Digital Service, Ministry of Justice Digital, Coop Digital, Land Registry, M&S, Sport England, Department for Education, NHS Digital, GroupM, Social Security Scotland).
Thinking and sharing
Over time I have also created numerous frameworks and tools to help support my clients, teams and share with others. I have also done talks, presentations and blogs on service practice and ways of working and careers in design.
You can catch up on some of thinking in my blog.
My approach
Every challenge is different, but I value user-centred practices to better align intent with delivery realities. I value good beginnings, starting small and validating opportunities quickly. Focusing on improving effectiveness to make sustainable change that people can be a part of.
My ways of working
Iterative: using lean iterative practices to improve fast.
Collaborative: partnering with leaders or teams to set up and deliver.
Evidence-based: using varied research to support recommendations.
Outcome-focused: combining intent with actual realised outcomes.
People-centred: using user-centred practices in strategy, service design and delivery.
Adaptive: defining adapted approaches work best for each situation.
Growing capability: support organisational and individual development.
Uniting mental models: simplify complex systems and strategy for ‘all’.
‘Doing it’: getting set up to test and validate with real people.
Cross-discipline: combining expertise and people.
Hearts and minds: bringing people along on the journey!
